Despite Carnival Paradise’s size (855 feet), it’s not hard to learn – or at least guess with a high chance of success – where things are onboard. Cabins take up decks 4 (Riviera), 5 (Main), 6 (Upper), and 7 (Empress), plus compact sections on decks 11 (Verandah) and 14 (Grand). Plus, color coding on hallways makes it easy to find your cabin. The rest of the decks house the ship’s dining and entertainment venues and the pools.

There are loads of outdoor spaces on this ship for you to enjoy, and cruisers have lots of room to stretch out and relax. The Carnival Paradise gym is located at the front of the ship and is accessed through the spa locker rooms; it offers plenty of machines facing the windows for a workout with a view. It's a decent-sized facility, and every time we visited there was no wait for machines or weights -- in fact, it was fairly empty.

Carnival Paradise has strollers available for rent, and high chairs are readily available in dining areas. Kids must be a minimum of 6 months old to sail and have to be potty-trained in order to use the pool or splash area. Passengers can also order cakes and other special occasion items from the Special Occasions Shop adjacent to the casino. Additional outlets called the Fun Shops are located near the lower level of the Normandie Theater (Deck 8) with beach gear, clothing, perfumes and other souvenirs. Although Carnival Paradise does not have a full promenade, the front of the ship on Deck 10 offers a covered partial promenade walk that is a peaceful retreat away from the music and commotion of the neighboring pool area. Hidden behind the Queen Mary Lounge (also accessible through the rear stairs of the Paris Restaurant) is the free-access, Carnival Paradise adults-only Serenity Deck on Deck 9 that's designed as a quiet reprieve.

However, as is also available on all of the Fun ships is Chef's Table - a dining experience that affords a dozen guests a multicourse dinner with a private cocktail reception, a tour of the galley and a master chef. This dining option takes place in a non-traditional venue, like the library or the galley, and can be booked onboard for US$75 per person. The 2200-passenger ship Carnival Paradise is one of the oldest Carnival liners, with building cost USD 300 million.
Carnival Paradise Bars and Lounges
Carnival Paradise is the second-oldest ship in Carnival Cruise Line’s fleet. However, despite the fact that this ship made its debut before the turn of the last century, it still holds its own. Carnival is making sure it stays relevant to modern cruisers, with a recent refurbishment that just wrapped up in October 2023. In addition to the theater shows, cruisers can head over to the Queen Mary Lounge (a secondary theater), for both PG-rated and adult-only comedy shows.

She offers something for all age groups, making her a perfect choice for a fabulous multigenerational cruise vacation. For adults-only relaxation in the sun, go to the Serenity adults-only deck on Deck 9. Better yet, this adults-only space is completely complimentary, so you don’t have to pay extra to access it and get a little peace and quiet. There’s one main pool on the Lido Deck with tons of loungers for everyone. The newly-added Waterworks water park gives families with small children splash areas, and adventurous kids young and old some water slides. That wasn’t the end of Carnival Paradise’s unique features, though.

It’s all supervised by friendly and fun-loving counselors who want your young teens to have the best vacation ever. Our video arcade boasts a huge array of games, and is open to players of all ages, all night and all day. So get some tokens from the vending machine and let the fun times begin. Challenge your friends to a game, or just see if you can beat the top score. After all, with the video arcade open 24 hours and an entire cruise ahead of you, you have plenty of time to try. Balcony rooms include standard balcony rooms and aft-view extended balcony rooms.
Carnival Paradise has just one main pool on its Lido Deck, which is the gathering place for most cruisers on sea days. The music is constant, and there are plenty of lounge chairs (including on the deck directly above it) and towel rental stations. There are also some tables and chairs that are out of direct sunlight, and two small and crowded whirlpools.
Included with your cruise fare:
Regardless of which you pick, though, expect the far wall of your cabin to be taken up by a small, square window and a glass door beside it. The standard interior stateroom comes outfitted with a double bed, small desk area and standard bathroom with a small shower. The interior upper/lower staterooms are more budget-friendly, because they come with a single bed plus a Pullman or sofa bed. The porthole interior staterooms feature two portholes on one side of the cabin.
While you won’t get much of a view, you will still get some extra natural light. Major renovations occurred in 2008, when Carnival added features that many Carnival cruise ships still boast today, such as the Circle C teens club and Serenity adults-only area. Nights are as lively as days onboard Carnival Paradise, with live music, games, dancing, and lots of drinking that keeps the party atmosphere going. The majority of the entertainment is on the indoor Promenade Deck, but on our sailing the Paradise crew did host a special outdoor deck party one evening with the theater performers, line dancing and Latin dance music. Paradise did not offer movies under the stars or other themed events (although longer cruises do have more than one deck party). When Paradise was built, the trend in the cruise industry was to put theaters, like the Normandie, above the water line and use blackout curtains to keep it dark.
Later on in the ship’s life, it was outfitted with the very first Earth-friendly dry-cleaning system found on a cruise ship. The system used environmentally safe detergents and limited chemical runoff. The Circle C club is for kids ages 12 to 14 (Deck 8) and has similar programs as the older teen's Club O2 (some events are combined). Arts and crafts, magic shows, Ping-Pong tournaments and karaoke are a few of the things to do at the club, plus kids often group together to go see shows in the main theater.
A range of accommodations include a high percentage of oceanview staterooms and those with private balconies. Some also boast floor-to-ceiling windows, providing incredible views. Feel like you are sleeping on a cloud on Carnival’s exclusive comfortable bed system. Relax and watch first-run movies on the flat-screen TV — You will never want to go home. Don’t think that just because you’re aboard a cruise ship that you have to stay indoors all day in order to avoid the crowds.
We found the internet on this ship to be painfully slow -- more so than we've experienced on other cruise ships. A conference room is located in the rear of the Destiny dining room. Other afternoon activities include a Champagne art auction (a cruising tradition), casino tournaments and fitness, spa and shopping seminars. Dance classes like Zumba and salsa get passengers moving, and live music on the Lido Deck stage keeps the atmosphere lively for pool-goers. The Lido stage is also home to ice sculpture carving and the "hairy chest competition" -- two traditional activities on any Carnival sailing. During drydock refurbishment 2018, a total of 38 new cabins were added, of which 2x Grand Vista Suites, 22x Junior Suites, 2x Scenic Oceanview, and 12x Interior.
Tweens and teens also have their own area where they can hang-out with friends, listen to music, dance and eat pizza. A variety of bars with diverse themes include one with a Mexican theme serving frozen drinks, as well as beers, another with mixologists preparing unique cocktails and delicious Caribbean rums served at a different choice. Have a sweet at the onboard candy store that was also added to the ship.
It lets passengers "favorite" activities so they'll get a reminder as the time approaches, and they can even view dining room menus in advance. Paradise also has a nine-hole mini-golf course on Deck 14 (just above the spa and fitness area) in jazzy, bright colors and affording great views over the Lido Deck and over the sides of the ship. Nearby is one lonely basketball hoop and a couple of shuffleboard courts that didn't get much use. Next to the main pool is a giant chessboard, cornhole (beanbag toss) and table tennis, which were all popular. The ship used to sail to Baja California out of LA (visiting Catalina Island, and Ensenada, Mexico), but at the end of 2011, she was repositioned through Panama Canal to Florida (replacing there the Inspiration ship).
